Stevie Ray Vaughan - The Power in the Blues

Stevie Ray Vaughan a.k.a. SRV came up with a gift allowing him to exceed human limits. Big fellows (in terms of respect), such as Eric Clapton, started to question the necessity of their artistic existence when they found out about him. Was there a reason for them to keep on playing? Well, that's an ill-posed question anyway. SRV had style, was really fast with the guitar, got plenty of talent and he could also sing. Just another definition for the one-man-show expression. All surrounding musicians were becoming insignificant when he was performing, even if their name was BB or Albert King. Most of them were 'scared' because he could improvise in a non stop manner. His playing flow was smooth and limitless, the result always awesome. SRV died tragically (helicopter crash) at the age of 35. The Blues lost one more figure and music was let to evolve in a much slower pace.
Crossfire (live) - I think this is the original SRV type of song. He introduced this style of music. Take some time and listen to the solo of this song - it'll get you started.

There is much more material out there. And most importantly numerous live versions of his songs. Each version might have something different to contribute since SRV tended to improvise a lot.
