short cv
At the moment, I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield (UK) working on the TrendMiner EU-FP7 project. I am also a member of the Natural Language Processing group here.
After graduating from Computer Engineering and Informatics Department (CEID) in University of Patras (Greece), I joined the Computer Science Department in University of Bristol (UK) for the MSc in Advanced Computing - Internet Technologies with Security.
My Ph.D. research ‒ advised by Prof. Nello Cristianini ‒ focused on the application of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing methods to user-generated content posted on Social Media platforms, in an effort to conduct inferences about several aspects of our everyday life. For more information, feel free to check my publications, Flu Detector ‒ a demonstration showing how flu rates emerging in a population can be inferred from Social Networks such as Twitter ‒, and Mood of the Nation, a website presenting several daily affective norms based on Twitter content geolocated in the UK.
I was a member of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory, Pattern Analysis and Intelligent Systems Group, Media Patterns Project and PASCAL 2 Network.
Selected media references on my research are available here.
