short cv

At the moment, I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Sheffield (UK) working on the TrendMiner EU-FP7 project. I am also a member of the Natural Language Processing group here.

After graduating from Computer Engineering and Informatics Department (CEID) in University of Patras (Greece), I joined the Computer Science Department in University of Bristol (UK) for the MSc in Advanced Computing - Internet Technologies with Security

My Ph.D. research ‒ advised by Prof. Nello Cristianini ‒ focused on the application of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing methods to user-generated content posted on Social Media platforms, in an effort to conduct inferences about several aspects of our everyday life. For more information, feel free to check my publicationsFlu Detector ‒ a demonstration showing how flu rates emerging in a population can be inferred from Social Networks such as Twitter , and Mood of the Nation, a website presenting several daily affective norms based on Twitter content geolocated in the UK.

I was a member of the Intelligent Systems LaboratoryPattern Analysis and Intelligent Systems Group, Media Patterns Project and PASCAL 2 Network.
